Arizona Tennis Classic

A Rising Star’s Triumph

The singles competition showcased the remarkable talent of 18-year-old João Fonseca, who captured the title with a hard-fought 7–6(5), 7–6(0) win over Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in the final. Fonseca, a rising star from Brazil, became just the second South American in history—after Juan Martin del Potro—to win three ATP Challenger titles before turning 19. His victory over former World No. 4 Kei Nishikori in the semifinals (6–3, 6–3) was a highlight of the tournament and confirmed his status as one of the sport’s most promising young players.

Doubles Final Filled with Legends

The doubles final featured four former World No. 1 doubles players, and the level of competition did not disappoint. Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos claimed the title with a 6–3, 7–6(2) win over the American team of Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram. Their experience and chemistry were on full display as they closed out the week in style.

A Conversation with Andre Agassi

A highlight off the court came with a special appearance by tennis legend Andre Agassi—eight-time Grand Slam champion, Olympic gold medalist, and global philanthropic force. Agassi joined RSPA Elite Pro Andy Zodin for a candid and inspiring conversation, offering tournament attendees a rare glimpse into his storied career. Zodin, an accomplished coach and longtime member of the Racquet Sports Professionals Association, guided the discussion through the highs and lows of Agassi’s journey from tennis prodigy to international icon, drawing enthusiastic applause and heartfelt appreciation from fans of all ages.

A Deep Field in Phoenix

With a prize pool of $231,150 and 175 ATP ranking points awarded to the singles champion, the Arizona Tennis Classic drew an impressive field. The tournament featured a number of top-ranked competitors including Nuno Borges, Flavio Cobolli, and Pedro Martínez. Wildcards were granted to American hopefuls such as Brandon Holt and Colton Smith, while crowd favorites like Reilly Opelka and Christopher Eubanks added to the excitement.

Tennis That Gives Back

The Arizona Tennis Classic continues to stand out not just for the high level of play, but for its focus on community.
